Zoo times 2

So I recently got the opportunity to go to the zoo twice- once with Austin's preschool and about a week later with Ethan's 2nd. grade class. Luckily we had beautiful weather both times. Here the kids line up with great excitement!
Miss Brooke had a great idea of having pictures of animals we might see and had the kids check them off when they found them.
I loved this shot of the penguins.
Austin LOVES the water and wishes he could swim with the penguins or seals...

The kids were fascinated with the tiger because it could walk up so close!

Austin thought it was cool that only a piece of glass seperated them from the "big cat"!
With Zaboomafo and Madagascar, these lemur's were recognized by all.

This is a boy's dream. A jeep you can pretend to drive!Austin on an African Safari...
Austin is peering at the giraffe...kinda looks like him in the picture below too!

Sliding down the giraffe's neck. I think the kids could do this ALL day!

At the end we headed back to the tables for a little snack and to re-cap the animals we saw.
Austin eating with a classmate.
Emma Kimber enjoys her snack- such a cute girl!

I induldged in a few create shots from our zoo trip:

I almost didn't see this shadow- I loved how you could read the sign on the ground.

About a week later Ethan's class went to the zoo too. I wasn't going to go again but Ethan go SO excited for me to come and said, "It's so much more fun when you come mom!" I couldn't say no- who knows how long my son will think that! :)

This is Ethan and his good friend, Tanner, on the bus. The other day when we asked Ethan who his best friend is, he said "Tanner- well, he's actually more like my brother." I thought that was so sweet! Tanner is a bit bigger (well, who isn't really) and has passed on his old clothes before and sorta takes care of him like a big brother would!

So each parent got 5 kids to watch and later take around the zoo. I got these five boys: Julion, Reece, Luis, Tanner and Ethan! We first got to go inside the building and learn about habitats and touch a few animals. Mr. Turtle was up first-
I could only talk Ethan into touching this stick bug. There was no way he was going to hold it!
This is Tanner actually holding the bug!
I don't know if you can actually get a feel for how large this boa snake was, but it was huge!

The kids got a real picture of the "circle of life" by watching a guinnea pig being eaten!

"King of the Jungle"...wait...I mean "King of the Boise Zoo!"
I wasn't surprised the first thing the boys wanted to do was try out this jeep!

My little "gophers"...

Digging for fossils...
I always chuckle at the "lunch swap" thing. Tanner forgot to bring a lunch and I was pleased to see all the kids at the table freely share their food with him!
I was amazed at the end of all the running around at the zoo that the kid would have enough energy to play tag before we got on the bus to head home. I must be getting old!
