Sand Dunes

The tail end Spring Break we went to one of our favorite spots- Bruneau Sand Dunes! We love that it's only about 1hr. drive, and the kids can't get enough of the sand. (I try not to think about all the clean up involved) Here are a TON of pictures from our adventures!
-
We brought some cheap kites this year for the kids. Unfortunately Sami's Elmo kite got stuck in a tree which caused a bit of trama for a while...

Sasha needed a rest half way up the dunes along with Sami.
This was our dog, Sasha's first campout! She did great over all (except for the whining and panting in the car)
We've had this kite for years so it wasn't surprising that it kept falling apart in the air, so I had to retire it.
I tried to take a picture myself, but Sasha kept licking my face...
It was a bit chilly/windy but laying down in the sun felt nice!
Cherie, Julie and I showing how tough we are for making it up the tall dune.
I didn't take the picture quick enough, but Sasha came up the hill only to shake out the sand in her fur right on top of these guys...yuk!
It was hard to get a decent picture of all of us because the wind picked up and we had sand in our eyes.
Gotta love litte boys!
Adrian had fun playing a game of football with the Rice's and friends...Looks like he's "still got it"!

Sasha loves Adrian and when she got loose she immediately run up to him in the middle of the football game and did some good "blocking".
Lexi and I payed a bit of frizbee.
Not only is that a good looking smore but Cherie looks good eating it her own "special" way.
Sasha loved the extra attention the Shepherds and other kids gave to her!
Ethan came up with this pose on his own- he's not shy.

We enjoyed this "non-healthy" easy-to-make peach cobbler in the dutch oven!

Sami wore her footed p.j.'s in broad daylight...brave soul.
This captures the emotions of Sami during this trip- gotta love the "hormones"!

It's hard to see, but the tree next to our trailor had a owl nesting in it.
At night, the daddy owl was bringing home a little supper...(see the mouse in his beak?)
I love nature- especially at sunset.

Adrian entertained us with some soothing guitar music by campfire.

A shot of the dunes in the distance.
Sasha has never seen such a big "back yard" You can just see the smile on her face as she runs free.
She found a rabbit and scared it away and as she started to chase it, Adrian called her back and she immediately came...good dog!

It's our family tradition that whoever wins the game of "Sorry" gets to right their name and the date they won on the board. I was lucky enough to leave my mark this time!
The Rice gang- kids will be kids!

Sami tried a different kite- it helps when there are no trees on the dunes!
Lexi's idea...
Doesn't this make you want to lay down and take nap too?
We had fun watching this train of kids slide down the dune. They had dug a big dip to crash into at the bottom.

We were glad the weather was as good as it was, when we got home, a storm with wind and cold weather blew in! Thanks to all the friends that came along and made it so memorable!

That is a great picture of the owl. I have to say he drove me crazy at the ward campout!! He was "hooting" all night!
